Youth Talent Showcase

The Argyle Bluegrass Festival will be providing an opportunity for youth musicians & vocalists to showcase their talents and to appear on stage with Sierra Hull at the 2008 festival on March 8, 2008. The festival will be accepting applications for youth showcases from the present time until January 10, 2008.  Youth talent may apply to appear solo, with one or more of their own accompanists, or with their own band. 

The youth showcases and the ensemble performances with Sierra Hull will be held from 10 AM until 12 PM on Saturday, March 8.  Applicants should be prepared to play and/or sing two selections for their showcase performance, not to exceed 10 minutes time on stage.  (Accompanists or the other members of a youth’s band are not required to be youth; however, the main focus must be on showcasing the youth’s talent. Preference will be given to all-youth groups and groups that have multiple youth members.) 

Applicants for the youth talent showcases must be age 16 or younger on the date of the youth showcases (March 8, 2008).  The festival reserves the right to require proof of age. Six to eight groups featuring youth talent will be selected for showcase performances from the applications submitted. 

Youths selected to showcase will receive complimentary festival tickets for themselves and one adult parent or guardian.  Non-youth band members or accompanists must purchase their own tickets to the event.  Selected youth talent will also receive a free Argyle festival tee shirt, a DVD copy of their showcase performance, and will have the opportunity to perform on stage with Sierra Hull immediately following the youth showcases (from approximately 11:30 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, March 8).  Selected youth talent who would like to perform on stage with Miss Hull must be available for rehearsal on Friday night, March 7; rehearsal with Miss Hull is expected to take about 2 hours, from approximately 8:30-10:30 PM.
